 Care When You Need It

You can access care day and night.

Health Plan of Nevada hopes you never have to receive emergency services. But if you do, and the condition is life threatening, call 911 immediately. When it is not, we encourage you to contact your provider or the Telephone Advice Nurse Service. If your provider’s office is closed and the Telephone Advice Nurse suggests you seek care from an emergency room or urgent care facility, please do so. We have provided some general information below that may assist you when faced with this type of situation.

Emergency Care

Health Plan of Nevada covers emergency services around-the-clock. You’ll take comfort in knowing you have emergency care coverage at any emergency room, day or night. When dealing with an emergency room condition, dial 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room for any medical emergency including:

  • Serious burns
  • Major trauma
  • Poisoning
  • Serious breathing difficulties
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Severe chest pain
  • Sudden paralysis
  • Loss of consciousness

Urgent Care

For medical conditions that require a prompt response but are not considered an emergency, you may visit an urgent care facility. Consider using an urgent care facility when the condition is urgent but not life threatening or serious, such as:

  • Ear infections
  • Colds and other respiratory problems
  • Sprains and strains
  • Abdominal pain
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Most cuts
  • Most burns
  • Most fractures
  • Back pain
Southwest Medical Associates has three urgent care facilities, one that’s open 24 hours. Please refer to your Provider Directory for a complete listing of urgent care facilities, hours and locations.

24-hour Telephone Advice Nurse Service

Health Plan of Nevada knows that not all illnesses or injuries require you to be seen immediately by a healthcare provider. That’s why we have provided you with access to our Telephone Advice Nurse Service. This service was developed to assist you with simple medical concerns and help determine if you need to see your Primary Care Provider or visit an urgent care facility. You can reach a Telephone Advice Nurse 24 hours a day at (702) 242-7330 or (800) 288-2264.
